About us Print E-mail

We are a community-based, not for profit organisation established in 1976 through the efforts of concerned people wanting to provide and develop support and services for residents of North Canberra.

Today we employ over 80 permanent and casual staff along with 50 volunteers and operate an annual budget of over $5.5 million.  In responding to the needs of our community we currently deliver a diverse range of services, including:

  • Children’s services;
  • Services for the aged and those with a disability;
  • Home help, transport and social programs for seniors;
  • Support programs for young people and families;
  • Women’s housing and emergency relief;
  • Inclusion programs for the socially isolated; and
  • Facilities hire for community activities.

Our Direction

Our strategic direction is set out in a five-year Strategic Plan.  This direction will see judicious expansion of Northside’s presence in the community with a strong emphasis on community involvement in the identification of needs as well as the design of services and programs to meet those needs.

Our Vision

A vibrant and engaged community with a sustainable future.

Our Values

Our behaviour is based on four core values:

Professionalism

We pursue our vision in a way that fully engages our skills, experience and desire to make a difference.

Enjoyment

We celebrate our achievements, value our relationships and pursue fulfilment throughout our time with NCS.

Respect

We accept people as they are and appreciate one another’s values, beliefs culture and history.

Trust

We rely on one another and earn the community’s confidence.
