Assistance, Care & Housing for the Aged Program (ACHA)

The Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged Program (ACHA) is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. The primary function of ACHA is to assist people on low income who are experiencing difficulties accessing secure and affordable housing.

NCS assists financially disadvantaged older people generally 60 years of age or older. The types of help the ACHA program provides are very wide-ranging, depending on the client needs.

Assistance could include helping people to organise moving house or removing clutter, helping to make homes more energy efficient to reduce electricity costs, provision of temporary or ongoing assistance with daily living needs such as cleaning, showering, access to the community shopping bus, access to community transport for medical appointments, access to social groups, or referring them to other organisations for specific assistance.

People who need help can approach NCS directly or alternatively, their families, doctors or other agencies who knows their situation could refer them.
