THE PROGRAM For women with or without children and accompanying extended family members who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic violence, in receiving support or supported accommodation, have increased women’s capacity to live independently and to be self-reliant.
This program is a transitional supported accommodation, for a period of up to 12 months.
While participating in this program you are encouraged to further develop your independent living skills and explore the process of personal empowerment, self-esteem, assertiveness and other personal growth areas. This can be done through weekly one to one support with the allocated case manager.
We are allocated units by Housing ACT on a Head Tenancy Occupancy Agreement with Northside Community Service Inc. While you are participating in the Northside Women’s Supported Accommodation Program you will be allocated accommodation for yourself and your dependents. This will be a two-bedroom furnished flat.
Foodbank The Foodbank is an aspect of the NWSAP which provides grocery items including fruit, vegetables, other foodstuffs and cleaning and personal hygiene items. The women are welcome to come by the office and stock up on items they may need. Our clients have repeatedly said how grateful they are that we provide this service because at times this may mean the difference between eating or not.
