Simon commenced his career in the Canberra community sector in the early 1980s and has held senior positions in ACT Government, followed by several years at Senior Executive level in the Commonwealth Government and the not for profit sector.
Simon has developed social policy, and managed or delivered large programs, at national and ACT levels. These include homelessness, Indigenous housing, mental health, alcohol and drugs, child care, youth services, corrections, problem gambling, disability, and volunteers.
As part of a broader community involvement, Simon is President of the ACT Mental Health Community Coalition, and a member of the ACTCOSS General Committee, the Domestic Violence Prevention Council, and the Ministerial Advisory Council on Mental Health.
At NCS, Simon has overall responsibility for the implementation of policies, providing strategic advice to the NCS Board, staffing and the day-to-day management of operations. He leads a team of Executive Directors, Managers, and approximately 100 staff who deliver a wide range of services and programs across the organisation.
