Restrictions
None of the facilities are available for birthday parties between the ages of 13 and 25.
CONFIRMATION OF BOOKING (AND DEPOSIT)
Casual Hire – A 50% deposit of the total cost of the hire is required at the time of booking, or if the booking is within 10 days of hire, full payment is required.
Regular Hire – The total of the first month’s booking/s must be paid within 10 days of the booking date.
CLEANING SURCHARGE FEE $80
This fee applies to Friday, Saturday and Sunday bookings only. It is added to the total hire cost. It covers any general cleaning of the floor and premises. It does not cover rubbish removal, furniture stacking etc as per the cleaning and packing up section of this agreement.
PAYMENT OF BOOKING
Casual Hire – Final payment in full is required before or at the time of collecting the keys (during business hours)
Regular Hire – Upon monthly invoicing, payment in full is required within 7 days
CANCELLATION OF BOOKING
Casual Hire – Bookings cancelled with a minimum of 7 calendar days notice will receive a refund of the deposit with a $20 administration fee applied, otherwise the deposit will be forfeited.
Regular Hire – Bookings cancelled with a minimum of 7 calendar days notice will not be charged, otherwise the booking will require payment upon invoice.
ACCESS TO PREMISES – KEY COLLECTION
Keys for all venues must be collected and returned between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday at Majura Community Centre reception located at 2 Rosevear Place Dickson.
Weekend and evening hirers, please note there is no after hours key collection/access available
Casual Hire – Upon final payment of your booking you can collect a key.
For weekday hire the key can be collected on that weekday between 9am – 4pm.
For weekend hire the key can be collected on the Friday before the hire date.
The key is to be returned at the end of your hire during business hours Monday to Friday 9am – 4pm.
Regular Hire – Upon payment of your first booking you will receive a key to hold for the duration of your hire.
KEY RETURN
Keys must be returned between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm to Majura Community Centre reception located at 2 Rosevear Place Dickson on the first working day following the last day of hire. If keys are not returned, a fee will be deducted as detailed in the security bond section of the hire agreement.
DECORATIONS AND ADVERTISING
The erection of decorations is permitted on the condition that they do not damage or mark any part of the building. Extreme care should be taken that decorations do not present a fire hazard. Handbills, posters and other advertising materials are not permitted within or outside any venues without the written consent of Northside Community Service. If decorations are not removed, the cost of removal will be deducted as detailed in the security bond section of the hire agreement.
RESTRICITIONS TO NUMBERS
The maximum capacity for each venue as detailed in the application, must be strictly adhered to in order to satisfy fire regulations. If this term is breached, a fee may be charged as detailed in the security bond section of the hire agreement.
SMOKING AND ALCOHOL
Smoking is not permitted inside any venue. Alcohol consumption is permitted in accordance with relevant regulations. The sale of liquor without a suitable license is illegal and therefore strictly prohibited in any venue.
NOISE
Please be aware that premises are in a residential area and due consideration must be given to nearby residents.
Excessive noise could incur a fine of up to $1000.00 for which the hirer is liable as per security bond section of the Hire Agreement.
- In accordance with the Environment Protection Act 1997 all noise must be below 45 decibels up to 10pm.
- From 10pm to 12am noise levels must not exceed 35 decibels.
- Premises must be vacated no later than 12am.
DAMAGE TO PREMISES
Any damage that occurs to the premises during the time of hire must be reported to Northside Community Service as soon as possible on the first working day following the hire. For any damage incurred by the hirer or one of their invited guests, the cost of repairs will be deducted as detailed in the security bond section of the hire agreement.
ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
If any activities in or around any venue instigate the attendance of the police, a fee may be charged as detailed in the security bond section of the hire agreement.
SECURITY & SAFETY
Hirers are responsible for the security and safety of the building and grounds during the time of hire. Hirers are also responsible for the behavior and safety of those attending their event.
NORTHSIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE ACCESS
The hirer must allow un-restricted access to the venue at any time by Northside Community Service staff on official business, security officers or emergency officers.
PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE
It is the responsibility of the hirer to determine if they require public liability insurance in their own right. In general private events, such as a birthday party, would be adequately covered by Northside Community Service insurance. If you are holding a public event or providing a public service you will be required to provide evidence of your own public liability insurance to a value of $10 million.
CANCELLATION BY NORTHSIDE COMMUNITY SERVICE
Northside Community Service will provide written notice cancelling a booking (without advance warning if necessary) if:
- Northside Community Service become aware that any event, goods, or services proposed to be held or provided by the hirer is/are objectionable, dangerous, inappropriate for the venue, prohibited by law, or would be of detriment to Northside Community Service, the community, or be in contravention of any laws or the conditions stipulated in the hire agreement.
- The casual hirer fees have not been paid in full
- The regular hirer neglects to pay for invoiced hire within the seven days required
- Repairs or alterations are underway
- The premise are not fit for use due to electrical or security failure, or damage.
- You have not provided evidence of adequate insurance coverage
CLEANING & PACKING UP
Premises must be vacated no later than 12.00am.
It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the premises and grounds are left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the hire and all equipment is returned to storage. If the cleaning is not to a suitable standard, the cost of engaging cleaners will be deducted as detailed in the security bond section of the hire agreement. The following checklist should be followed:
- Any cooking equipment, crockery or cutlery used has been washed and returned to storage
- All decorations have been removed
- Toilets have been tidied of excessive rubbish
- All rubbish has been placed in external bins to capacity only, or removed form the premises
- All equipment (chairs, tables etc) have been stacked/stored as found
- All electrical equipment and appliances have been turned off
- All heating/air-conditioning has been turned off
- All windows are closed
- All lights are turned off
- All doors are locked and secure

Northside Community Service does not operate after hours or on weekends.
Please ensure you have everything you need for your booking and have collected keys during business hours, as there is no after hours customer service available and the emergency number does not cater for this.
This is a community facility with limited volunteer support after hours. Please ensure you attempt to resolve any issues before contacting our volunteer staff.
Corroboree Park is managed by Parks, Conservation and Lands Department.
Contact the Public Use Team on 6205 8794 or Canberra Connect on 132281 Public can use the park without booking.
Some people book through the department however it does not guarantee exclusive use, just that the department won’t double book.
If a group books with the department they are informed that the park does not have public toilets and that the halls are private property and not in their control. They have NCS’s contact number and email, and let users know that they can contact us to inquire about booking/using the halls.
