Children participated in group conversations about using gentle hands and treating others with kindness and respect. A particular focus was helping children understand that they have the right to speak up if something makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Educators supported children to practise simple phrases, helping them build confidence in expressing their boundaries and communicating their feelings.

Through everyday interactions, play-based learning and educator-led discussions, children were encouraged to communicate their feelings, build positive relationships and develop confidence in seeking help and support from trusted adults.

Across all three services, National Child Protection Week provided opportunities to strengthen children’s understanding of their rights, build resilience and encourage positive help-seeking behaviours.

While National Child Protection Week shines a spotlight on child safety each September, these conversations continue throughout the year.
