Harrison Early Childhood Centre
At Harrison Early Childhood Centre, we prioritise and understand the importance of respectful, reciprocal relationships for each child and enable them to create meaningful relationships and become life-long learners. Educators prioritise being calm, present and attuned to the needs of each child, which leads to warm and trusting relationships where children develop their own dispositions for learning. We value highly the partnerships between families, educators and the wider community in order to benefit children’s learning and development. We work closely with all children and their families to ensure our connections enable children to gain a greater understanding of decision-making in regards to their own safety, personal health and wellbeing. Shaping children who are able to lead their learning and become active members of their own relationships and environments.
We understand and acknowledge that children learn best through a play-based curriculum, incorporating flexible and open-ended environments. We believe that play enables children to become explorers, discoverers, researchers, imaginers, and philosophers and from this, we encourage and allow for indoor and outdoor play which enables children to make their own decisions and follow their own interests. We value quality time spent in the classrooms with children, prioritising being actively engaged in each child’s individual way of learning and developing.
No child learns, develops or grows the same way. Educators at Harrison understand this and respect, support and value the time spent with children in order to help children flourish as individuals. We understand the importance of environments that is rich in learning and allow children to grow and challenge their thinking through both the natural and built environments. Creating a strong understanding and sense of being, belonging, and becoming throughout our centre.
